The Mama Circle Podcast:
Why Motherhood Feels Like This

Honest conversations about the things we expected, the things nobody warned us about and why modern motherhood can feel harder than we thought it would.

You can love your kids and still hate what modern motherhood asks of you. The invisible labour, financial squeeze, the relationship struggle, overwhelm and the feeling that somehow, you’re the problem. There’s a name for everything motherhood quietly costs women: The Motherhood Debt. And this is where we say it out loud.

Each episode puts words to the parts of motherhood you’ve felt but couldn’t explain. More honesty, less pressure, and space to find your way towards a motherhood that feels supportive, joyful and sustainable for you, as a woman and a mum.

Hosted by Natalie K. Martin, novelist and mum.

These episodes introduce the ideas at the heart of The Mama Circle: why modern motherhood feels so hard, what it quietly costs women and the support we should have had all along.

Hey, Mama! I’m Nat,

Mum to a cheeky, giggly, whirlwind boy. I love exploring the parts of motherhood that often get reduced to personal failure but are actually shaped by much bigger forces: money, work, relationships, social expectations, identity and the absence of meaningful support.

I’m interested in the gap between what women are told motherhood will be and what modern motherhood actually asks of us. My work doesn’t tell mums to fix themselves. It helps us recognise what we’re carrying, understand why it feels so heavy and imagine something more supportive.
